Eating Without the Guilt

This time of year is really tough for people trying to eat healthy and watch their waistline.  With all the parties and goodies people bring to work it's hard not to put on a pound or two.  And then there's Christmas dinner!  We all stuff ourselves and then work it off by sitting on the couch Christmas afternoon.  Well, I've got some information for you that might make you feel a little better about that big meal.  Running to the store for 10 minutes for ingredients you've forgotten will burn about 40 calories.  Of course, if you LITERALLY run to the store you'll burn off a lot more, especially depending on where you have to run to!  Carrying a 20 pound turkey from the car to the kitchen will burn 25 calories.  Baking an apple pie will burn 114 calories.  It doesn't count if you stop at the store and buy a pre-made pie!  Cleaning up the house for 30 minutes before company comes burns about 126 calories.  If you're stuck in the kitchen, don't worry,  I have good news for you.  Chopping, stirring and cooking for 2 hours burns 360 calories.  See?  We can cook and still burn calories!  Now, if you're going to someone else's house, they're doing the cooking and all you're doing is eating....well, all bets are off!
