Harry Potter Trailer

So we know how everything works out in the end since Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was published last year.  But now there's a new Harry Potter movie on the horizon.  Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince will be in theaters in November and if you want a sneak peek at the movie click here http://community.tvguide.com/blog-entry/TVGuide-Editors-Blog/Movie-News/Harry-Potter-Half/800044143 and you can watch the trailer.  In this movie we are introduced to Voldemort as a young child and interestingly enough, he is played by the nephew of Ralph Fiennes who plays Voldemort as an adult.  There's quite a resemblence between the two and I guess it's just good fortune for the move that Ralph's nephew is an actor, too.  Check out the trailer and let me know what you think.

Funny Horse Race

Ok, do you need a laugh today?  Check out this link, http://popwatch.ew.com/.  It's footage of a horse race.  There are some names of horses that are absolutely hilarious but I think this one takes the cake!  There is a horse named Arrrrr running and you just have to hear the announcer as he calls the race!  It's hysterical!

Hannah Montana Auction

Do you have a Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus fan in your household?  If so, you might want to check out this link www.ebay.com/miley.  There is an auction of Miley Cyrus autographed cds, posters and some of her clothes.  And there is also an opportunity to bid on a chance to accompany Miley on the red carpet world premiere of her new Disney film "Bolt".  The last bid I knew of was around $2,000.  The auction ends next Tuesday and benefits her family's foundation, the Pappy Cyrus Family Foundation, named for Miley's grandfather.  Happy bidding!!

Summer Pet Health Tips

It's a hot and steamy day today and it was a hot and steamy weekend.  While we can get inside in the air conditioning and get a nice cold drink don't forget about your furry four legged friends!!  In the summer they need a little more care to keep them healthy.  Here are the top 10 health tips to keep Fluffy and Rover (and even your fishy friends) happy and healthy this summer.

10. When you walk your pet do it in the morning or evening and not during the heat of the day.
  9. Keep fish tanks away from sunlight.  You don't like a greenish fish tank and neither do your fish.
  8. Groom your pet daily.   Comb their hair.
  7. Check them for fleas, ticks and mites.
  6. Make sure your pet has a PET ID tag so if they decide to stroll out of the neighborhood you can get them back.
  5. Know what is toxic to your pet.
  4. Throw away uneaten pet food.
  3. Know your pet's heat tolerance.  The wimpier they are, the cooler they'll have to be.
  2. Do NOT leave your pet in the car!  After all, you wouldn't lock yourself in a parked car, would you?
  1. Have plenty of water and in multiple locations for your pet.

Weird Vacation Destinations

Are you looking for something different to do for your vacation this year?  Well, have I got the answer for you!!!  Check out this website www.discoverweirdus.com.  You'll find really different vacation spots to try out.  How unusual?  Well, how about Cottage City, the real life home 40 miles south of Baltimore, Maryland, that inspired "The Exorcist"?  Or maybe the P.T. Barnum Museum in Bridgeport, Connecticut.  There's the Eastern State Penitentiary, the haunted and abandoned prison in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania or the The Big Tree....at 3,500 years old, it's the oldest living thing in Florida.  You could check out the Bridgewater Triangle, a hotspot for UFOs and strange animal sightings in Massachusetts or the Headless Horseman Bridge, the bridge in Tarrytown, New York, made famous by Washington Irving's legendary tale of 'Sleepy Hollow'.  And if you're looking for a staycation...there's a haunted farm in Cuyahoga County so you don't even have to travel out of state!  So go to the website and plan your next vacation.  My guess is that you'll have some great stories to tell when you come home!!

Sweetheart 5K Run/Walk

You've heard Kathy and me talking about this event coming up Saturday at Kent State Stark.  It's the Sweetheart 5K Run/Walk and it's a women's only event sponsored by Mizuno and Second Sole Athletic Footwear.  If you've been trying your hand (or foot) at running this is a great event to try since there is so much support from all the participants!  You can run the entire 5K or you can walk (like Kathy and I will) or you can do a combination of both.  If your New Year's resolution was to get in shape and it kind of went by the wayside these last 6 months this is a good time to recommit yourself to it.  It's a fun event!  There will be complimentary T-shirts for everyone who takes part and there are awards for the top 5 women, top 3 teams and age group winners.  Plus there will be fun things everyone will have a chance to win!  You can preregister two different ways.  You can click here www.ohiochallengeseries.com or you can stop out at Second Sole Athletic Footwear in Thursdays Plaza.  Preregistration ends Friday at 2pm but you can also just show up the day of the race and sign up there.  I hope we see you out at the Sweetheart 5K Run/Walk at Kent State Stark this Saturday morning at 8am!

Locking in Gas Prices

You're familiar with the concept of the Forever Stamp.  You buy them now and whenever the price of postage goes up you can still use them although you paid a lower price for them.  Well, there is a company kind of doing the same thing for gas.  It's called MyGallons and if you click here http://www.mygallons.com/ you'll go to their site that allows you to use a debit-like card which banks gallons rather than dollars.  Working under the assumption that gas costs will continue to rise MyGallons allows you to buy gallons at todays price of gas and use it later when the price jumps, that way you save money at the pump.  MyGallons determines what the price of gas is based on current prices.  The MyGallons card is accepted at over 95% of U.S. gas stores.
