Maks Speaks!!

So how much are you missing Maks on Dancing with the Stars??  I'm missing him a whole lot!  But don't worry...he will be back next season.  In the meantime, you can watch an interview with him about why he's not on this season, his time with Mel B. and whether or not he thinks a woman can win again.  Check out this link http://www.ew.com/ew/video/dwts?lineupId=1463329332&videoId=1460747448.  I could just watch the man speak and he can melt my heart.  He's so cute!  Yes, he's arrogant but he's goofy enough to make it fun.  Is there any other male professional on the show that has so much personality or can catch your attention like Maks??!!   Next season can't get here quick enough!

St. Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!  It's always a fun holiday.  I haven't heard whether there were enough signatures on the petition to make St. Patrick's Day an official holiday but if I hear anything I'll let you know.  What's funny is that we celebrate this holiday in the states significantly more than the people of Ireland!  I have tons of cousins in Ireland and they were surprised at how we celebrate when I told them.   But to continue the celebration I found a website where you can watch for leprechauns in Ireland, get a recipe for Beef in Guiness, learn the Irish language and find out the history of the shamrock.  If you want to check it out click on this link http://www.irelandseye.com/.  Have a wonderful St. Patrick's Day and, if you decide to go out to drink, please make sure you have a designated driver so everyone is safe!!

Lost

Are you watching this season of 'Lost'?  Wow, it's good! There's just one more episode before we run out of original scripts until the end of April.  Last night we saw Sun's story.  It was interesting in that there was a flash forward and a flash back in the same episode.  The question is now, do we know who all the Oceanic 6 are?  We know that Jack, Kate, Sayid, Hurley and Sun get off the island.  But we also know that Ben, Aaron and Sun's baby are off the island, too.  So, are one of them the sixth person?  It would stand to reason that Aaron would be considered but technically he hadn't been born when the plane went down.  Ben wasn't on the plane and Sun wasn't pregnant yet.  So would they be considered one of the 6?  Or is there one more person?  Also, we FINALLY saw that Michael is on the freighter.  That was the worst kept secret in the world!  But where is Walt?  See, every episode seems to answer some questions but then poses lots of other questions!  What do you think?  I also have a link where you can watch a preview of next week's episode which is apparently Michael's story.  Watch it and then tell me what you think.

Make St. Patrick's Day a Holiday

St. Patrick's Day is not an official holiday like Columbus Day, Labor Day and Thanksgiving Day are.  Proposition 317 asks Congress to make St. Patrick's Day an officially recognized holiday in the U.S.  The goal is to get at least one million signatures on a petition supporting Proposition 317 by midnight Sunday so it can be presented to Congress on St. Patrick's Day.  If you'd like to sign the petition click on this link http://proposition317.com/.  Hey, don't we need a day off so we can drink green beer and eat corned beef and cabbage??!!

Wild Weekend!

So how did you make out during the weekend?  Were you snowed in?  Actually, I think almost everyone was.  That was some snow storm!!  I kept watching the Weather Channel Friday night and Saturday and they kept going to Mike Bettes who was in downtown Cleveland reporting on the storm.  Sometime Saturday he said that of all the times he's covered weather phenomena this was the most miserable he's ever been.  That's saying something!!  I realized how bad it was when he said he had personally seen 6 RTA buses stuck in the same intersection and that the snow plows were getting stuck.   Then everyone started comparing this storm to the blizzard of '78.  Now, I wasn't living in northeast Ohio at the time (I was in central Pennsylvania) but I had relatives that were.  I've heard stories of that winter and this weekend just doesn't compare.  I know that in Pennsylvania we didn't have a full week of school for a month and all we did was shovel.  There's a picture of my sister and me on top of a snow drift with the top of our pool's fence just sticking up through the snow.  Going down the road seemed like going through a topless tunnel that winter.  That winter just seemed to go on and on and on and we just kept getting pounded by the snow.   So, as bad as this past weekend was, in my opinion it doesn't touch the winter of '78.  What do you think?  Do you agree?

Oh, I also mentioned on my show today that I'd put a link to a website that will help your guy cook better.  Actually, I'm not much of a cook so maybe I ought to check it out.  It's supposed to have step-by-step guides and pictures so you can make sure you're right on track.  Check it out!  www.meninaprons.net

Happy Friday!!

Wow!  This is a crazy way to get into the weekend, huh?  Lots of snow and terrible road conditions!  It reminds me of growing up in the snowbelt.   Please be careful driving this weekend!  Make sure to turn on your lights and when you're scraping off your car don't forget to scrape off your headlights and your taillights so people can see you.  Have a great weekend!

Duck brand duct tape is holding their Stuck At Prom Scholarship Contest where they're challenging high school students to create and accessorize their prom formalwear with duct tape.  There will be 10 finalists and then online voters determine who wins.  The winners will receive a $3,000 college scholarship and $3,000 for the high school that hosts the prom.  Entries have to be in by June 11th.  If you want to check out previous winners or want to enter go to www.stuckatprom.com.  I have to tell you, some of those previous winners were unbelievably creative!  Their outfits are great!  Some actually look like tuxedos and dresses and some are just plain fun!  Check it out!
