Reminders for Yourself

Do you have a tendency to forget things like birthdays, anniversaries, meetings?  Or you know someone who does (boyfriend/husband/etc)?  Well, there is a free website that allows you to send email video messages to someone or yourself at a specified date and time in the future.  All you do is go to this website www.messagethroughtime.com and upload your video.  Photos and text-only messages can be sent, too.  This is great if you’re afraid you’ll miss a birthday or special occasion.  If you want to send a video to someone you can do it early, specify what day to send it and you’re all set.  Or you can send yourself a reminder.  If you’re starting a diet you can even send a video to yourself in the future to remind yourself what you looked like before you started the diet.  You can remind yourself of a meeting or put together a ‘to do’ list so you won’t forget.  There are endless possibilities so check it out and people will be impressed that you don’t forget things anymore!!   Hmmmmm, I think I need to do this!

Save Money for the Holidays

So the holidays are almost upon us.  You’re probably thinking, I have to start my shopping, but you’re on a budget.  If you need to find a good deal on some of those gifts this season I have a solution for you.  Click here http://www.dealalerter.com/.  This new web site will do your window shopping for you.  Dealalerter is free to use and you can search for almost anything from cameras and televisions to appliances, toys, clothing, computers and even musical instruments..  The cool thing about this site is when you go and search for a product, if you don’t like the lowest price you find you can set a price alert.  You tell Dealalerter the price you want to pay and when the product’s price drops to the price you want to pay you get an e-mail.  Gotta love that!  It’ll make all your holiday shopping easier on your wallet this year!

Bachelor/Bachelorette

Another Bachelor breakup.  Shocker.  Well, to be technical, it’s a Bachelorette breakup.  DeAnna broke up with Jesse this week, so no romantic Bahamas televised wedding in May.  Again, shocker.  Really, the only successful couple has been Trista and Ryan which the show keeps parading out.  I guess Byron and Mary are also a successful couple although they seem to be perpetually engaged and have yet to get married.  But you’ve got to hand it to Chris Harrison and the producers…they keep trying!  Another installment of the Bachelor is coming up and they’re looking for a suitable Bachelorette so it seems that will continue as well.  Harrison says they’re not looking for someone who is rich, heir to a throne or someone famous (although they’ve had all of that!).  They want someone sincere in their search for the perfect mate.  So if you think you know someone (or you’d like to try out) click here http://thebachelor.warnerbros.com/ and you can apply for the show.  Although, I have to say I think it’s unlikely you’re going to find your soul mate while cameras are on you 24/7.  Plus the “fantasy” dates are so elaborate that the relationship is often contrived.  How do you go back to normal life after that?  No wonder so few couples make it past 6 months!!  And yet I keep watching the show!  But if you’re a hopeless romantic, check out the application process and if you make it on the show I hope you find that special someone!!

Monopoly

It was on this day in 1935 that we were first introduced to Monopoly!  Wow!  And a classic was born!  I played A LOT of Monopoly as a kid.  There are some great stories about Monopoly.  One of them was about a group of fraternity brothers who were playing a marathon game at the University of Pittsburgh in 1961.  After 4 days of playing they ran out of money.  Well, by the official rules, the bank NEVER goes broke so they wired Parker Brothers who sent $1,00,000 in Monopoly money by plane and had it met by Brink’s Armored car at the airport.  The cash was made it to the fraternity and the game continued!  Check out some other great stories by clicking here http://www.monopolycollector.com/ and go to the Game Facts page.  Have fun!!
