Jason Mraz’s Recipe for Chocomole

I found out that Jason Mraz has an avocado farm and he does sell his avocados.  As you can imagine he makes a mean guacomole.  But he says his chocomole is even better!  What is chocomole?  It’s a healthy mousse made with avocados.  I have to admit I’ve never heard of chocomole but I love avocados and you know I LOVE chocolate!  I can’t imagine chocolate mousse made with avocados but I have the recipe.  If you try it let me know how it tastes.  I know avocados are healthy so I guess that would make chocolate mousse made with avocados healthy, right?  Anyway, here’s the recipe.

This makes a huge bowl big enough for a family of four:

Mash up 5 ripened avocados

Add 1-2 cups of chopped or blended dates

1 soft cup of raw cacao

1 easy cup of raw carob powder

1 tbsp. vanilla

Add a few pours of agave nectar to sweeten to your liking

Add 1/2 cups of cocoa until chocolate tastes right.  Don’t add too much or it will get bitter.

Enjoy!

Lost

Well, tomorrow night is the ‘Lost’ season finale.  I keep hearing they are going to answer some questions.  But you know what comes with answers…more questions.  And it is the season finale, of course, so we’ll HAVE to have a cliffhanger.  It just come with the territory.  I did learn a little about the actor that plays Keamy (the scary mercenary).  Believe it or not, he used to be a stand up comedian when he was in college!  If you’ve seen Kevin Durand play Keamy you’ll probably find that hard to imagine.  He also was a teen rapper who went by Kevy D.  He appeared on Broadway as Injun Joe in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.  He’s Canadian so he grew up playing hockey and was in the movie Mystery, Alaska with Russell Crowe and that connection got him a job singing back up with Crowe’s band 30 Odd Foot of Grunts.  Next year he’ll be in X-Men Origins: Wolverine playing The Blob.  Wild, huh?

Anyway, I thought you might like a preview of the ‘Lost’ finale.  Click here http://www.eonline.com/gossip/kristin/detail/index.jsp?uuid=65da536e-f423-4ecc-8e76-108b560c098b and you’ll get 5 previews.  Enjoy!!

Ok, SPOILER ALERT:  DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT A HINT TO WHAT’S HAPPENING TOMORROW NIGHT!
I just read an article that says that 3 original characters die tomorrow night!  Here’s my prediction:
Claire (c’mon, we know she’s already dead)
Michael (he’s on the boat with the explosives)
maybe Jin (we know he doesn’t make it off the island)

Your thoughts?  We’ll see if I’m right tomorrow night.

American Idol

So are you excited David Cook won last night?  I am!!  I think he’s the real deal and I think he’s going to have a good career.  I thought last night’s results show was, once again, too packed and it really irritates me that there are 2 hours to make one simple announcement and they just can’t seem to get it all in within 2 hours!  I had my dvr taping the show since I knew I’d be at our Sex and Get Out of the City Party at 7 Martini Lounge last night and I wasn’t sure when I’d get home.  Well, I got home around 9:30 and started watching and just happened to accidentally hit the ‘live’ button at 10pm and, fortunately, caught the last few minutes that, of course, ran over the 2 hour time frame.  So I did get to see David Cook’s reaction as well as his family’s reaction and his performance of the winning song from the song writing contest.  When I watched the dvr back it cut off immediately after Ryan announced the winner.  So, if that happened to you and you didn’t get to see everything after the official announcement click here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ce92M5WuyNY and you can see everything else.

A couple of observations from last night…the duet of the Davids singing ‘Hero’ was great!  Very cool!  I liked the duets between Syesha and Seal and Brooke and Graham Nash.   And both Davids were great on their collaborations with One Republic and ZZ Top!   Did you see Ryan get down and dance during the performance with Donna Summer?  He only did it for about 5 seconds and then huffed and puffed his way to the sidelines to watch the rest of the performance.  But that was funny!  Also funny were commercials that both Davids did with their immitation of Tom Cruise in ‘Risky Business’!  I was zipping through the commercials and happened to glimpse them and had to go back to watch the commercials.  They were hilarious!  The skit with Gladys Knight and the ‘Pips’ who turned out to be Ben Stiller, Jack Black and Robert Downey, Jr. was funny, too!  And I have to say it was good to see Bryan Adams.  It’s been a long time and he looks great!

All in all, a good show.  But, PLEASE, next year get it all in within the time frame!!!

Dancing With the Stars

All right, so tonight we find out who wins this season of ‘Dancing With the Stars’!  I still say Kristi should win.  When they came out to do the cha-cha and each had to dance to the same music I was wondering what was going to happen.  Well, in my opinion, Kristi wiped the floor with the two guys!  The only flaw the judges have consistently harped about with her is the lack of personality she brings to the dances.  Well, that wasn’t an issue last night!!  And the turns she did were fantastic!!!  I got dizzy watching her do them!  The lift at the end when Jason and Christian hoisted her in the air was great!  I do have a question, though.  Did you see the interview portion with her partner, Mark?  Is it my imagination or did he break out an Australian accent suddenly?  It was weird.  Then, just as suddenly, he went back to an American accent so I got confused.   Did you catch that?

As for the freestyle dances…again, advantage, Kristi.  She was great!  Carrie Anne mentioned that Jason doesn’t seem to know what to do with his one arm during the dances and I have to agree with her.  He looked a bit awkward.  I have to say, I liked Christian’s freestyle.  Not as many spectacular lifts (but the guy is operating with one arm!) but I thought the dance was interesting.

I was worried that since Kristi danced so well and scored so well with the judges that people wouldn’t vote for her so I tried to vote for her but I never got through.  The line rang busy all the way until time ran out so I hope that means that lots of people voted for her.  We’ll find out tonight!

Sketching New Yorkers

Since I was an art student for several years in college I found this story very interesting.  There’s a 25 year old artist who is attempting to sketch every person in New York City before he dies.  His idea came from trying to give the 8 million people in New York individuality.  He says, “I might never finish, but that’s ok.  I’m coming from the midwest.  It’s different living here.  I”m trying to make (New York) more palatable, more welcoming.”  I just find it incredible that this guy is taking on a monumental task like this.  If you click on this link http://www.everypersoninnewyork.blogspot.com/ you can see some of his sketches.  Some are more detailed than others but if you’re going to sketch 8 million people you have to draw fast!!
